Lando Norris just got his first F1 win! You would have loved that so much “our boy!” I can imagine you saying so clearly, he did it Matt :)

Yesterday, your dad, sister and mum showed incredible bravery in so many ways. We listened to your story, and your impact is still shining through. You’d be so proud of everyone, you would have given your dad the biggest hug, laughed at the pictures of Archie from Jo, and would have said how beautiful the words of “lovey” were. You are thought of every single day, yesterday was difficult and powerful and will amount to so much change. You are loved so much. You will be remembered for the rest of time, so don’t worry about that

Yesterday was another horribly sad day after a traumatic year for Mike and I, plus of course everyone who “loved him to bits”. It is obvious from all the tributes, cards, gifts and messages that we have read and received that Matt’s warm personality, silly ways and engaging smile brought friendship and joy to many people. So many friends and family say they think of him every day and some of us hoped that it was all a joke and he would walk back through the door. If only! We understand their pain and fortunately for us it is less than previously. We spent yesterday the best way possible for us with wonderful company virtually all day. Jo, Archie, Dale and Bindi came in the morning and we fed Matt’s birds as usual at his special place. Then we tried a new, but muddy walk between Shepperton Studios and the new Netflix Studios. Followed by a visit to the place Matt used to canoe and then a lovely pub lunch with a toast to Matt. In the evening our good neighbours, Kamna and Mahip, came for coffee bringing a gorgeous homemade curry for us! We want to give a shout out to Jaine and Nathan who always know what we need and when. On Mother’s Day they surprised us with a beautiful orange plant and yesterday a special candle holder which reads “SON Always loved and never forgotten.” We had gone to church on Sunday hoping to light a candle but they didn’t have any, although the minister kindly said a private prayer for us. Jaine knew we hoped to light a candle but didn’t know we were unable to. However, she still delivered the special holder for us. Thank you both. Friends and family telephoned during the day and I heard about strange incidents which Matt may or may not have had a hand in! Two I have experienced were a heron landing on the fence as close to the house as possible. It was extremely odd. I stood stock still and gazed at him until he flew away. Jo previously had another golden retriever called Reuben. We were visiting a garden centre and on a display isolated together were two Christmas decorations with Archie and Reuben on them. I believe Matt wanted me to get them for Jo. I took a picture and showed her when I next saw her. She said excitedly “did you get them?”. And I produced them from my handbag. Matt, as others have said, you should here be with us all, charming people, birds and dogs alike. Your loss is so heartbreaking to so many. 🧡🧡🧡
